Study Shows Combining Time-Restricted Eating and High Intensity Exercise Can Improve Health and Aid Weight Loss

The Power of Combining Time-Restricted Eating and High Intensity Exercise for Weight Loss and Health Improvement

A groundbreaking new study has revealed the incredible benefits of combining time-restricted eating with high intensity functional training (HIFT) for weight loss and overall health improvement. Time-restricted eating involves only allowing oneself to eat during specific hours, while HIFT focuses on functional, multi-joint movements during exercise.

Published in the PLOS ONE journal, the study involved 64 women with obesity who were divided into three groups: time-restricted eating, HIFT, or a combination of both practices. The results after a 12-week period were astounding, with all three groups experiencing significant weight loss and improvements in markers of cardiometabolic health like cholesterol, blood glucose, and lipid levels. However, the group that combined both time-restricted eating and HIFT saw the greatest overall improvements.

The study authors emphasized that the combination of time-restricted eating and HIFT can be a powerful strategy for achieving superior effects on body composition, lipid profile, and glucose regulation compared to diet or exercise interventions alone. While the study had limitations such as a small sample size, it highlighted the potential of integrating specific types of diet and exercise to achieve optimal results.

Personal trainer Michael Baah explained, “When we limit the time we eat and engage in intense workouts, our bodies become more efficient at using energy and processing sugar, leading to improved fat burning and muscle building.” This study underscores the importance of combining time-restricted eating and high intensity exercise for maximizing weight loss and health benefits.
