ICMR Releases Dietary Guidelines for Women with Hectic Lifestyles: Key Takeaways and Recommendations

The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has recently released a set of dietary guidelines specifically tailored for women who lead busy lives and are unable to workout regularly. In collaboration with the National Institute of Nutrition, the ICMR highlighted the importance of maintaining a healthy diet in order to combat the negative effects of a sedentary lifestyle.

The guidelines include a detailed chart outlining the ideal dietary pattern for women with a BMI of 18.5-23, weighing approximately 55 kgs. The chart suggests specific quantities of soaked and boiled whole grains, beans, green leafy vegetables, and nuts for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and evening snack. Additionally, the report emphasizes the importance of choosing whole, fresh, unprocessed foods over ultra-processed foods that are high in oil and sugar.

Among the 17 key measures suggested in the report, issues such as unhealthy diet practices and mislabeling of food products were addressed. The ICMR stressed the importance of portion control and balanced meals in order to promote a sustainable and healthy lifestyle for women.
