The Connection Between Physical Fitness and Coaching at Case Western Reserve University

From basketball to softball, each coach at CWRU is dedicated to bringing out the best in their players. They know that physical fitness comes in many forms, whether it’s daily walks, yard work, marathon training, or mountain climbing. The coaches recognize the importance of staying active and moving the body to prioritize health.
Assistant professor Jessica C. Taylor from the School of Medicine emphasizes the benefits of physical fitness, including increasing longevity, reducing the risk of diseases, and making daily activities easier. She also highlights the importance of not focusing too much on the number on the scale, as building muscle can impact weight.
In honor of National Physical Fitness Month and National Women’s Health Month, The Daily sat down with Spartan coaches Josie Henry, Brooke Beecher, and Jennifer Reimer to discuss their fitness journeys, goals, and motivations.
