Fitness Journey: How Amanda Hinds Shed 80 Pounds and Became an Indoor Cycling Instructor

Amanda Hinds, a New Jersey resident, has achieved an incredible weight loss transformation, shedding 80 pounds and fulfilling her dream of becoming an indoor cycling instructor. After facing a setback during the COVID-19 pandemic, where she gained 100 pounds in a year and struggled with her athleticism, Amanda decided to make a change.

She started her journey in June 2021, documenting her progress on TikTok for her 29,300 followers. Starting at 300 pounds on her Peloton, she had already dropped to 245 pounds by August 2022. Through dedication and perseverance, Amanda found her love for cycling and used it as a tool to reach her fitness goals.

According to Harvard University, vigorous stationary cycling can burn a significant amount of calories, making it an effective workout for weight loss. Amanda took small steps, focusing on completing one song at a time until she built up the courage to audition to become a CycleBar instructor. In June 2023, she proudly announced that she had achieved her goal.

Now, Amanda teaches indoor cycling classes in Jersey City and Montclair, representing “plus-sized women of color” as an instructor. She has also taken up running, even signing up for a half marathon after being able to run 4 miles at a time. Amanda’s journey serves as an inspiration to others, showing that with dedication and passion, anything is possible in the world of fitness.
