The Wife NGO Hosts 18th Annual General Meeting and Retreat in Lagos

The Wife, a non-governmental organization dedicated to empowering women, recently held its 18th Annual General Meeting, Retreat, and Vigil at Park View Estate in Ikoyi, Lagos. Led by founder Dr. Nkem Okoro and Chief Coordinator Madam Ada Emeka Matthew, the event aimed to promote women’s health through various activities.

Participants at the event engaged in activities such as swimming, GYM sessions, dancing, and aerobic exercises, with some women experiencing swimming for the first time. The program also included a nighttime vigil at Guiding Light Assembly, featuring praise and worship by Jerusalem and Pastor Patricia Osagie.

During the two-day program, attendees took part in a Saturday walk, aerobic exercises, and discussions on pressing issues, including the “Ills of Morality among young people.” Ada Matthew Emeka emphasized the organization’s commitment to addressing moral decay among young girls in schools.

Key topics discussed during the AGM included the “Benefits of Exercise” by Dr. Gertrude Dike and “Raising Godly Children” by Dr. Nkem Okoro. Dr. Okoro stressed the importance of unity between spouses in child upbringing and expressed satisfaction with the event’s success.

Reflecting on the retreat’s purpose, Dr. Okoro highlighted the importance of accountability and seeking higher ground. She encouraged Nigerian women to engage in multiple jobs and household farming to secure their future.

Dr. Dike outlined a seven-point agenda for body care, emphasizing the benefits of exercise in reducing blood pressure, stress, and hormone imbalance. She also highlighted the importance of exercise in maintaining a healthy brain, confidence, sexual life, and overall well-being.

The Wife’s holistic approach to health focuses on the physical, spiritual, and emotional well-being of women, reinforcing its commitment to empowering women in all aspects of their lives. The event was a success, providing a platform for interaction, learning, and physical activities aimed at improving women’s health and overall well-being.
